    USB drive failures in Leopard

Friends, I was upgrading to leopard but I am facing trouble in mounting the USB Drive. My system can not recognize the USB drive. I have newer Mac Pro in the system with 10.5.1 but the USB port is not able to recognize any of the External hard drive and my 1 GB flash drive is also not recognized by it.

It was working for some time but around leopard upgrade it stops working. Can you tell me any solution for this? I have tried some suggestions from my friends but not helped me. Ant help will be appreciative.
    Thanks.

Yes, we can help you. You should go to System profiler and select the USB port. It will show you some information about your USB port. You should post that and then we will be able to help you in better way. Copy paste that here and we will provide the solution as early as possible. Without that information we can not help you so do that first.

Re: USB drive failures in Leopard

After seeing your USB profile, all the things seems to be file. You should refresh it when you plug in device after starting your System profile. You can find the refresh under view menu( Command-R ). You can also try some other USB port like the extra port available on your keyboard. I hope this will help you. If not then it may be some driver issue and you should upgrade your USB driver.

Re: USB drive failures in Leopard

I am also having the same problem with my USB port. I can see the USB drive when I go to system profiler but I can not use it. I have dual, quad core Intel Xeon cpus in the system. I contacted to Apple care for this issue. My Logitech mouse freezes after every 20 to 25 minutes. Once it gets hanged I have to restart the computer and I found the issue gone for some time. I hope that I can get solution for this here. I am waiting for your reply. Please help.

Re: USB drive failures in Leopard

No, this problem is not associated with Intel Macs. When I upgraded to Leopard, I found my computer has stopped recognizing the MP3 player. I plugged the MP3 player to the keyboard and it alerts for low power and no connection. When I connected the memory card to the printer it shows me its icon on the screen. So it reduces the problem to 60 to 70 % in comparison with MP3.

Re: USB drive failures in Leopard

Are you ejecting the flash drives in the first place? I would like to tell you that the operating system keeps an image file which is called the cache. It is nothing but a part of data thatcomputer keeps in the memory. Many of the times reformatting on another Mac running Tiger or leopard may solve this problem.
