    Photosmart C4795 Wireless Problem

I have a Mac 10.5.8 system. I had recently added wifi router. Now I want to add a wireless printer on the network. Everything works well except the printer. The printer model is HP Photosmart C4795. This a new printer and it is now showing on the network. I had checked in System preferences > printers/fax. When I try to add printer it is giving error. I tried to add the printer with an IP address support. It successfully printed a test page but freezes on other printing.

I have similar printer and it works fine. My network is also ok. For that try to reset the printing system. Go to System Preference and then click on Print and Fax. Then right click on the box where you can see the list of printers and then click on the plus to add a printer. Try to search for the printer device and then choose add button. Once added run a test page and update the drivers.

You might be not aware that wifi networks today have a strong encryption policy. This is because to avoid unauthorized access to the network. For adding the printer check for the wep/wpa settings. If you want you can disable them and provide public access to your network. But that can be bit dangerous as there will be always a issue of virus.

First reboot the router and then add the printer again. Try to add the same via ip address of the printer. You can open a port from a router to provide access to the printer. If you have any security application installed then try to disable the same for sometime and then check back again. This looks like firewall issue. I had added the printer port under exception.

To start keep an eye on your taskbar wifi icon. If the Mac detects the printer then you will get indication of the same there. You can try to set the printer on the bluetooth icon. Right click on that then then click on configure bluetooth. If the wifi is going offline then go to Apple > network setting > State of the network. This looks like a driver issue.

In System Preferences and then click Printers and faxes. The list of shared printers appear. If this list does not comes up then that shows that the printer is not properly installed. Check also for the wireless device you are using. Then once the printer appears there you will need to run a test page. Use the default settings for the printer. Do not keep the same at a much longer distance.

Printer via WiFi is not the best solution if you have just located a wired network. The data throughput is essential, and which is of course by 100 (0) MBit / s greater than with theoretical 54Mbit / s. The printer behaves in the WLAN as a computer, he gets an IP (DHCP or manually assigned) and is just mentioned it on this. If no router is present, the printer can be connected via AdHoc WLAN.
