Getting MTP USB Device Failed when trying to download pictures from my camera

Every time when I connect my camera it gave me a message on the startup saying MTP USB device failed. I had gone through some similar posts but there are not much solution provided for the same. It sometime gives error on the startup also. I have some images which I want to transfer directly from the device to my system. But it is giving out the same error.

For this I will first recommend you to disconnect all the us device from the system. Then click on start and in the run box type devmgmt.msc. Click on and then you can see Device Manager windows popping up. Go to the section of Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right click on the same and then select Host Controller. Choose uninstall option for that. Next time when you restart this will be installed automatically.

I am also facing similar error in my system. I have a Canon E0S 50D camera and when I plug the same in the system it gave me the same error. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my system. Before that I has used the same on a Windows Vista system when it worked just by pluggin in. But not it is not being recognized in the system. What can be done here.

I had just updated the firmware of my ipod and everything was going well before I tried to copy some must through windows media player. It was detected well in the system and I can see it as a removable media in My Computer. Then from Windows Media player I tried to copy some songs directly in that. I got a error saying that the MTP Device driver is out of date. It is not working now.

It is a usb issue and it can be fixed by uninstalling the device from Device Manager. I face a similar trouble when I connect my MP3 player to Windows system. I have a Creative Zen 30GB player's which appear directly on the screen when I plug it in . Then suddenly one day I got a MTP Device failed error. From Device Manager just right click and remove the device. Next plug it again and re-install it.

I got the same issue for my Nokia phone. I had here uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from the CD which i got with it. I had also I installed Windows Format SDK in case needed. Recently I had installed software for iPod, PSP, ActiveSync and BitDefender 10. I had problems with Windows install, and Windows Update Framework.net, which have been repaired suddenly. But now I am getting the same error.

Do not connect your camera after all this. Download MTP Device from Microsoft site and then install the program. Search for the file wpd10.inf, this file can help you to configure the advanced options and remember it is a hidden files. Right click and then choose open file it is a registered packages to install. When this is done. Restart the computer. Open Windows Media Player and look in sync to restore your device that is now connected.
