The problem seems that the audio driver is not installed well or is not working. You need to get the appropriate drivers for the system and then install it well. Reinstallation will also help you out as the driver may be appended with issue and it needs to be sorted. This can be done well buy going to the control panel and then choose the desired driver as needed. Click on remove button and then install the fresh new copy of the driver. Check out.

I would suggest you to check for the compatibility. It could be that the device is not able to function well or is not compatible to the system. So in order to work well or get the associated driver to cope you need to install them under compatible mode for Windows XP. This can be done by right clicking on the installer.exe file and then process as needed. Do check out.

Install the sound card again by removing the same. If it is inbuilt then uninstall the drivers and make the things to work for you. So perform the thing as it is been mentioned and then look for the change. You may then be able to get the things to work for you and hopefully the sound problem will be sorted. So check out.
