The problem is generally with the operating system as it do not support well under it. Its not only you who is facing the problem. Even I have been going through this. Also I used to work with Windows Vista first and the NAS used to function very well. It could be that the Windows 7 do not have the support feature for the same or you need to get the Support file downloaded.

I would recommend you to perform a clean install of the operating system. This is because as you have upgraded the system the programs and the application which are associated with the drivers need to be upgraded as well. which may not have been and this is the reason that you are not able to get the NAS features to be functioned well.

As you are using Windows 7 have you tried to work with the device by making the system to function in clean boot service. You need to select Hide all Microsoft service under the selective startup tab. Then you need to disable the service. Now restart the system as needed. I hope you may then be able to work well with the same. So perform as needed.

Install the associated drivers for the device under compatible mode. This will definitely help you out and make the things to perform well. You need to right click on the installer.exe file and then make it install under compatibility mode for Windows Xp. This would help you well and make the necessary things to be fulfilled. So check.

Install the same under safe mode. All you need to do is to run the system under safe mode option and then check for the thing. This will let you to get to a better solution and then perform for the aspect. The safe mode do not have embedded features and hence there would be no such issue with the advanced features of the operating system. So look for the same.
