Happy Expand the Life of my Sony DVD Player

    Hi ,

I can move it via a small unknown procedure to reset the optic blocks focus and tracking configuration. They drift after awhile and will cause unstable reading of even stamped discs. You will require your DVD player's remote control to perform the procedure. You will also require the following discs to perform the adjustment....a single layer stamped DVD, a standard audio CD, and a dual layer stamped DVD.

There are some of the steps through that you can investigate the management of your player -

    1. Remove any disc/s from the player and turn it off.

    2. From the remote control, press the described keys in order as displayed, and within a five second period.TITLE/CLEAR/POWER...on some remotes it might not have TITLE, so you should use the key SUBTITLE instead.

    3. A blue menu screen displays. Choose "Auto Drive Adjustment".

    4. Next, choose "ALL"

    5. The player will start by requiring a certain disc, it may be the single layer DVD, or can also be a dual layer DVD, or the audio CD depending on the player compatibility and availability. Insert the sufficient disc for it requires. One thing need to remember, that entire functions are committed by the remote control. The on screen suggestion will tell you what key to press.

    6. As it moves through its alignment, it might ask if you need to continue with the focus management during its alignment phase, press "enter" on the remote to make sure to continue with the focus adjustment, it might ask this for entire three types of discs inserted. Just let the unit proceed with the self adjustments.

There are some suggestion that needs to care about and keep in mind when you start the above suggested procedure.

If the unit identify any issue, the management procedure will get stop and ask you to remove the disc. Just be sure at this point that the discs you use for this little adjustment procedure are clean, no scratches of any type of dirt, and they must be stamped/store bought discs. If you are using burned discs, that will completely throw the alighnment out of spec and it may never recover!!!

Once the procedure committed properly for each disc, power down the unit, then turn on again and try with your discs. The procedure will manage again the focus amplifiers, the tracking amplifiers and optical emitter and get the settings to compensate for component once aging. Nine times out of 10 this steps will resolve most of the issues with the Sony DVD player goofing up on discs. This procedure is suggested if your player is over a year old. If you go through this then the procedure once a year or twice a year based on how frequently the DVD player is used, you can prolong the life of the player 10 fold.
