Studio XPS 13" Audio Popping and Slow Motion problem

I am using 13" Studio XPS laptop nowadays. I installed Windows Vista on this laptop. Many a time I have noticed that any audio file plays in a slow-motion. At first I thought of driver compatibility issues but then even after updating the drivers I didn't find my problem solved. Also I see most of the time audio making popping noises. I am completely blank need your advise as if what is the actual problem and how should I solve this? Is there anyone else having the same audio problem?

The problem is not from the audip card or its driver but from the software that you may have installed which is having the problematic codecs which in turn affecting your audio performance by conflicting them. This could even come from the games that you might have installed recently. What I would suggest is uninstall any of such software and then update your audio drivers and then see if the problem still persists.

Even I had such issue and in my case the Windows default dll (mp3dmod.dll) file which is responsible for audio was overwritten thus resulting me into such issue. I tried all the ways to fix this problem, even reinstalling the drivers, etc on my pc but none solved my problem. At last I had to restore that file from my Windows CD to get it solve.

This seems to be some kind of hardware issue. Did you tried to contact Dell support center to get some solution from them? I think they should help you in a better way and provide you an effective solution. However you can give a try to uninstall the driver and reinstalling it once again. And if your driver was the reason for that problem then I expect some virus that might have corrupted your drivers and so you should perform a complete scan to get rid of this.

Re: Studio XPS 13" Audio Popping and Slow Motion problem

Audio problem could occur due to many things, like media player problem, codec issues, virus/malware problem etc. If it is related to media player then I would recommend to use VLC player and see if the same thing happens to you. VLC player will also solve your codec issues. If it works then either reinstall the media player and download the latest codec pack (klite codec pack is preferred). If none of this helps then try to use MalwareBytes and scan your computer to find any malicious software affecting your system files.
