You are having the Toshiba Satellite T135 netbook and you want to reinstall the operating system in this netbook. But you are facing the problem with this netbook. You are not able to boot from the external DVD drive connected to this Toshiba netbook. First of all make sure that the external hard drive is detected by the netbook and the power is coming in the drive.

Re: Unable to boot from external CD-R drive

I think the first boot device in your Toshiba Satellite T135 netbook is set to the hard drive and because of which you are not able to boot from the external DVD drive connected to your netbook. You will have to change the first boot device to the external DVD driver connected to the netbook from the BIOS settings of the netbook. So enter in the BIOS settings and select the external drive as the first boot device after that the netbook will boot from the installation disc inserted in the external DVD drive.

I dont think so that you will be able to boot Toshiba Satellite T135 netbook using the external drive connected to it using the USB cable. I think you should try to boot and install the Windows XP operating system again in this netbook using the image file of the Windows XP operating system on the USB pen drive. But remember that the pen drive should be bootable. You can get the procedure for making pen drive bootable easily on the google. So search for it.

I dont think so there should be any issues in booting the Toshiba Satellite T135 netbook using the external DVD drive. You are saying that you have selected the external drive as the first boot device. But still you are not able to boot from it. I think there is some problem with the Windows XP installation disc which you are using to boot the netbook. Make sure that you are using the bootable Windows XP installation disc.

Hey thanks Crespin for your advice, i was also having the same issue with my HP mini netbook. Now the issue is resolved. The Windows XP installation disc i was using was damaged and it was no longer the bootable but when i used another Windows XP operating system installation disc the netbook was able to boot from it. Once again thanks to you people for helping in resolving the issue.
