Best gaming sound card for windows 7

Hello there, I have recently upgraded the operating system on my desktop computer to Windows 7. I use the computer mainly for gaming and hence need your advice in selecting the Best gaming sound card for windows 7. The games I play include Counter Strike Source and Half Life. Both the game require a good surround sound response as in to know where exactly the opponent is. So please give suggestions about the sound card. Any help is highly appreciated.

I also use my computer for gaming and the sound card which is installed on my computer is PCI Creative Soundblaster Audigy SE. It has an excellent response and clarity and hence I would suggest it to you. Check if the motherboard is supporting the mentioned sound card and install it on your computer. With the Creative soundblaster installed, you will not miss any of the footsteps of the opponents.

When sound response is concerned, the best sound card will only be provided by Creative lab works. I have Creative X-fi Xtreme Gamer card installed on my computer which uses PCI-E x1 slot. The card is really expensive but worth all the money as the clarity of the card is unbeatable. The only problem with the card is that it uses PCI-Express slot which is not supported by all the motherboards. So if your motherboard supports PCI-Express, then Creative X-fi Xtreme Gamer is the sound card you need to have.

The best in the Creative series is Creative Announces Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD which supports HD and THX technology. This is the latest sound card which is released by Creative and is rated as best in the Sound cards which are available. The card supports PCI- Express slot and is also available in USB variant. According to me this is the sound card which every gamer should use to improve the sound sense. So if you can spend more money, this is the gear which you would like to own.

Thanks for replying to the post really fast. As suggested I checked out all the cards which have been mentioned and found out that Sound blaster HD is the one I would be buying as it supports THX and HD technology. There is no issue of incompatibility as my motherboard supports PCI-express slot. I just want to know, if there are any good headphones available for playing counter strike? Please suggest.

For playing Counter strike, the best head phones that are available are Steel series 5Hv2 which provides surround support and has excellent noise cancellation. It also has an USB sound card attached to it, so there is no need of buying an extra sound card for the computer. Apart from steel series, there is RAZER BARRACUDA which is available and has more features than 5Hv2. Both the headphones are best in their price range and have external USB sound card attached. Depending on your budget, select the headphones you want to use.
