    Kindle 2 as a printer

    Hi,

Now instead of printing my some important documents on pieces of paper that get more and more dog eared, I can print to pdf and carry them on my Kindle, along with all of the information and books galore.

What I really want though, is a 'clever' printer driver that will print to either PDF or AZW or MOBI - dont really care which. It should know that the destination paper size is A5 and automatically re-flow the text to display correctly. Its a big ask I know, but it would make the Kindle that much more useful. Lots of web pages now have printer friendly options so lots of options would be opened up by this.

Anyone suggest me for the best way..???

Yes, Amazon is able to convert the documents , but the conversion is different, and what I need was a one step procedure. To export the Word file to amazon and back to my kindle either consumes different steps or money!

According to me, the powerful resolution of the dedicated problem that is currently suggested as can be applied,to configure the page size in Word to A5 and then printing it into the PDF - unless you require your file to be indexed Globally. This procedure can help you whatever you need to implement.

It is very good consideration on the topic.

I am using Linux as the primary operating system and working as a developer in the firm and every distro which I have used always has an option to print to pdf from any software application and looks same as a printing device.

You are getting my point, I could probably scribble a script to generate a new print "device" which nearly creates a 3.5 * 4.75 pdf and would send auto-magically mails it to the kindle.

I am trying and thinking that how it can be implemented on the windows. I could probably write a faux driver to emulate the exact nature.

I am very happy to know that one of the programmer I got is interested!

The procedure according to me is not so much creating the virtual printer driver itself as accessing the page to flow accurately to it. I have configured my own Word documents to be A5 size that is the nearest standard size page, and then after the output reflected onto the pdf, but its not well ideal.

It is very amazing to got if you make any progress even on Linux first. I probably execute the Windows but can always execute a live-disk to check it out.

The strategy of saving documents directly to mobi is a good one, but I need not to use a separate word processor only for documents for the Kindle, I desired to access the normal documents which I would commonly print out onto the Kindle so I don't need to print them.

Although if this type of word processor was ready then I would commonly refer it as I use notepad at the moment - for easy lists and notes. But I can already do that with Notepad too as the Kindle reads ".txt" files.

In this case,a ".mobi" virtual printer driver would be of good then the files I print would be as applicable to search similar to the pdf that doesn't compatible with the global searching technique.

You can obtain a similar solution with the help of BookCreator and calbire.

To printing out the page, another option is available, you click on the "Create eBook" and then choose the MOBI option as the eBook type.

    There are two options :

    1. In the "eBook Reader" tab,a "Add book to eBook Reader" check box tagged. This option is used to create an eBook within the PC and as well as on reader.
    2. If you need not a copy on your PC then configure the "Save To:" with the following parameter - <Kindle drive>:\documents

Now,It is able to generate a mobi document in that directory.
