DVD RW drive of Compaq CQ3140IX desktop not detecting any DVD

I am having the Compaq CQ3140IX desktop computer system and i am using the Windows 7 operating system in this desktop computer system. The problem which i am facing with this desktop is that the DVD RW drive of Compaq CQ3140IX desktop not detecting any DVD inserted in it. When i am inserting any DVD disc in the drive and opening the drive then the windows shows please insert the disc in the drive. Where as the CD's are detected properly.

You are having the Compaq CQ3140IX desktop and this desktop has the Windows 7 operating system. You are facing the DVD reading issue with this Compaq desktop. according to you the DVD RW drive is not working properly. this drive has problem in reading the DVD disc but it properly reads the CD discs. First of all make sure that the DVD you are trying to use is not blank and it is not damaged.

Before inserting the DVD in the DVD RW drive of Compaq CQ3140IX desktop clean the DVD as well as the the DVD RW drive of the computer properly and make sure that the DVD disc should not have any scratches on it. Clean the DVD Disc with the soft cloth. After that insert the DVD disc. Now the system will read the DVD disc properly without any problem.

If this DVD reading issue of the DVD RW drive of Compaq CQ3140IX desktop is there with all the DVDs then i think the drive is damaged and it is not able to read the DVD discs at all. I think you should first clean the lens of the drive and try again to read the DVD disc using this drive of the Compaq desktop system in the Windows 7 operating system.

If all of the above mentioned methods are not resolving the issue related to the DVD RW drive of Compaq CQ3140IX desktop then i think you should take the DVD RW drive to the service center of the Comapq if the system is still in the warranty period and if its not in the warranty period then it is better to purchase the new DVD RW drive for the system.
