Dell Printer P703w not printing in Black

Hello there, I have a desktop computer which is running on Windows XP operating system. The computer is connected to a Dell P703w printer. Recently the printer started behaving weirdly. Dell Printer P703w not printing in Black ink. Any black matter on the paper is printed as a blue matter. I am really very confused as in what must be causing such problem. Please help.

Have you checked the cartridges of the printer? It is possible that the cartridges of the printer are out of black ink and hence it is not able to print in black ink. Open the lid of the printer, the cartridge bank will appear. Remove the cartridge and check if there is any ink in it. If the cartridge is empty then refill the cartridge and replace it in the cartridge bank. Once replaced, check if you are able to print black matter from the printer. If refilling does not help then replace the cartridges.

Check if the drivers for the printer are installed and working properly. Every device which is connected to the computer requires a set of software to be installed on the computer so that the device works properly on the computer. Drivers act as a mediator between the operating system and the device and hence if the drivers are not installed then the printer would not work properly. Open the device manager and check if there are any caution sign against the installed printer. If there are any caution signs then do the troubleshooting procedure and see if the printer works. If troubleshooting does not work then try updating the drivers.

I think the applications from which you are trying to print is corrupt and hence the printer is not able to print in black ink. All the applications have many files associated to it. If any of the files associated to the application gets corrupt then the application will not work properly. Replacing the corrupt files of the application will solve the problem. Either replace the corrupt files of the application or reinstall the application which is creating problem. Once the corrupted files are replaced or if the application is reinstalled then you will not face the problem again.

If the computer is not able to communicate with the printer properly then printer would not be able to print properly. The communication problem can be because of the connecting cable used to connect the computer to the printer. Remove the connecting cord and then connect it again properly. If reconnecting the cord does not help then try replacing the connecting cord and changing the port on which the printer is connected.

The cartridges of the printer have connecting terminals on their back. The connecting tracks on the cartridges get damaged due to frequent usage. If the connecting tracks on the cartridge get damaged then the printer will not be able to access the cartridges properly and hence you will face problems while printing. To check if the connecting tracks on the cartridges are damaged, remove the cartridges and check them. Clean the connecting track with clean cloth and then replace them back on the cartridge slots. If the connecting track are damaged, then there is no other option than to replace the cartridges.
