AZERTY keyboard are more often used in French-speaking countries, including France and Belgium and if you are from France than only it can be helpful for you. In this keyboard, A, Z, E, R, T and Y are the letters on the top left, alphabetic row. It differ from the QWERTY keyboard in that the Q and W keys have been interchanged with the A and Z keys. M is moved from the right of N to the right of L and Z and W are swapped. AZERTY keyboard looks like this:-

It is possible to transform a QWERTY or AZERTY simply using stickers. Once placed the stickers, then you only need to configure your Windows Vista to show them the new arrangement of keys on your keyboard. You can find this keyboard stickers online on Ebay as well in six colors. Choose the one that come out best on your keyboard: white letters on a black keyboard and black lettering on a white keyboard for example.

Once you are done with stickers you need to configure this from your vista control panel. Here is how to do that:-

    1. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double click the command Change keyboards or other input methods in the category Clock, language and region.
    3. Click Change keyboards
    4. Click the Add button.
    5. Unroll option French (France) and check the French. (As told before this is used in France)
    6. Click OK.
    7. Then select the English keyboard (United States) and click the Delete button.
    8. Finally, click on the OK button. Your keyboard is then embraced as a Qwerty keyboard.

After sticking the AZERTY stickers on your keyboard, following are the steps that you need to change on your Ubuntu System:-

    • Click the System menu, click Preferences and then click Keyboard.
    • In the window that appears, open the Layout tab.
    • Click the Add button.
    • Scroll Fixtures and select France.
    • Then click the Add button.
    • Select the other fixtures and click the Remove button.

    Thats it..
