    Microsoft wireless mouse "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND"

Hi, i am a windows 7 user. Last week i bought a Microsoft IntelliPoint 5.2 wireless mouse to use with computer. Well, i installed it successfully, no issue. But after few seconds my system gave an error message saying "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND." I can also see the device installed in the device manager. I am not able to find the cause of this error. Could you guys please help me out of this ? Thanks in advance.

    Re: Microsoft wireless mouse "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND"

I am aware of this error, as i faced it too some couple of weeks ago. While workaround, i found that it is due to a file named Hidserv.exe. If it is installed during the hardware installation process than this error is expected. hidserv.exe provides support for USB multimedia devices with the Microsoft Windows operating system. It is used by your computer when communicating with USB devices which have audio capabilities. If you have a keyboard with a volume control or USB speakers etc you should leave this process running. his program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.

The best way to fix this issue is only by reinstalling the mouse and its drivers. To remove the mouse through Device Manager just go through these steps:-

    • Unplug the mouse from your computer.
    • Press CTRL+ESC, use the arrow keys to select Control Panel, and then press ENTER.
    • Use the arrow keys to select System, and then press ENTER.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Hardware tab, press TAB to select Device Manager, and then press ENTER.
    • Press TAB, use the arrow keys to select Human Interface Devices (may also be labeled Mouse or Mice and other pointing devices), and then press RIGHT ARROW to expand the item.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the mouse in question (it may be labeled HID Consumer control device or Unknown), and then press ALT+F10.
    • On the Shortcut menu, press TAB to select Uninstall, and then press ENTER.
    • Follow the instructions to completely remove (uninstall) the mouse.

Restarting the HID Human Interface Service may also help you to fix this error. The HID profile defines protocols, procedures, and usage scenarios for using HIDs, such as keyboard and mouse, over a Bluetooth connection. Before the HID is activated, it must send its device information, called descriptor, to the class driver on the host. The class driver uses the descriptor to determine device characteristics in order to enable controls on the device. After a Bluetooth connection is established between the HID and the host, the HID can communicate with the class driver over an L2CAP connection.

    Re: Microsoft wireless mouse "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND"

To restart the HID Human Interface Service, just follow these simple steps:-

    • Open the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in for Services.
    • Click the Start, type services.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
    • If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
    • In the list of services in the Details pane, double-click HID Human Interface Service, and then make sure that Startup type is set to Automatic.

    Thats it !!!
