Reinforce the color with transparent colored is good option .At the shop there is often transparent colored available. So CCFL's to settle on an easy way of the possible color of the light to change. You can make as many layers as you like film. Fixed Paste is fine with a small piece of tape. Moreover, bring the film to the exterior of the plastic casing, the glass tube is quite warm and you do not want smoldering film in your body. The heat of the shell is not a problem for the film.

Another option is to use glass paint to get started. This paint (which is available at many art supply stores) remains transparent and is excellent for a CCFL's color . It is not easy to do this evenly without spots. Use this method only if CCFL's not sitting directly in sight, or accept that paint art visible.

Dimming of a CCFL is not quite possible. An inverter you can carry less than 12 volts, then that means that sometimes not all tube glows. Then you have less light output but the light distribution is far from ideal. Second, if you lack the power inverter converts your tube will not light up.

For the dimming of CCFL would actually have to use a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) to happen but this is certainly a difficult method for the average case mud is very ambitious.
