    Raid 0 questions

I have a raptor 150 gig drive and i need more space. So i was wondering if i should buy another 150 gig drive or just get a single 300 gig raptor. The 300 gig drive is only 60 dollars more than the 150 gig drive and i could just give the 150 drive to a friend .... or should i buy the 300 gig drive and raid 0 it with the 150 gig drive if thats compatible... Im running vista and mostly play video games with my pc. Thanks for the help ... any advice is appereciated.

    Re: Raid 0 questions

if you basic user then u dont need to go for raid just get 300gb harddisk another thing there is no muxh difference in price for 300 and 500 so my view is better to go for 500gb for raid you can check here Setting up raid 0

    Re: Raid 0 questions

Basically no, you can build a hot swap RAID 5 setup, and replace a bad drive on the fly, but you cannot just add addtional disks to the array as you go. You need all the disks you are going to use, and build the array with them from the start. Raid 0 is only for performance , so its not a true raid config , if you lose 1 drive all your data is lost on both drives , Raid 1 however , if you lose 1 drive you still recover your data. Basically it looks like one drive to the OS (if you're using hardware RAID). You can effectively treat it as one drive.
