Windows Vista and HP C4200 series printer problem

I have some problem with HP C4200 series printer on Vista. If I try to print a test page it works but if I try to print anything else like my C.V. or some college projects then it wont work. All the driver seems to working properly and all other software installed for the printer is fine, but still they give an error message. So perhaps, can anyone explain me what is the problem here, any patch available for it? Thanks

First of all, make sure the printer queue for your Photosmart 4280 isn't "paused". I think that your HP printer queue is paused, so unpause it. Did you also check on the CD that came with the printer: see if the driver is version 8.0.0 from May, 2007. If it isn't, uninstall your current driver - (go to "Programs and Features" in Control Panel to start the HP uninstaller) - and then download the newer driver. You can completely uninstall ALL HP Photosmart software & the driver as well, if you'd like, but you'll want to have someone with broadband Internet to download that latest package (software plus drivers), because it's a tad over 100mb http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...s=2093&lang=en .

I think that it might be a driver issue or some software compatibility issue with vista and your printer, so refer to some similar topics for the solutions listed here: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-print-fax/914668.htm

    1. Disconnect the printer from the PC: both USB and Power.

    2. From the START menu, find the Hewlett Packard menu and select uninstall.

    3. After the uninstall completes, make sure there are no icons for your printer in the Printer & Faxes menu. To check, go to Start->Printers and Faxes. If the HP icons are still there, select them and delete them.

    4. Download the newest S/W kit from HP

    5. Once downloaded, Start the install but DO NOT PLUG IN THE PRINTER until the install tells you to.

    6. This should do the trick. If not, start a chat session with HP on their website. Sometimes when you do the uninstall, the application doesn't delete everything and HP has a cleanup program.
