What you describe its reasons for the replacement of the station. Backup of everything what you have and try there again formatting the disk.

There are two manners do this, both a format of the entity requires. Therefore copy of your data on your computer before you continue :

    1. To the use of this non removable disk with Macs and PC. If you open the non removable disk utility program, click on the FreeAgent, click you on partition. After volume regulation, and you click to 1 partition selecting you under format on MS-DOS (FAT). For the safe measurement, you click to master boat record on option, and select you. Click on "Apply".

    2. To use this hard drive with MAC and a better performance. Open Utility of disc, click on FreeAgent, click on Partition. Under the terms of volume, choose Partition 1 and click on Format under Mac OS Extended. By security measure, click on OPTION and select partition GUID. Click on Apply.

The format of the disk player between Mac and PC are very different. FAT32 uses of Mac and PC is NTSF. Mac can read only NTSF. If you want that Mac of reading and d' to write the hard drive, you will have reformater the hard drive with the MAC standard which is Fat32.
