    Can not connect any IDE

I met for the first time to assemble the PC and I wanted to know if taking a hard drive and a sata drive in there will be no problem if nothing is connected IDE port on the motherboard?

Second thing: in fact I intend to replace the box and the motherboard recorder of PC purchased in supermarkets, I would like to know if I would have a problem with compatibility, eg if the system motherboard recognize directly, or if formatting the disk and compulsory before or after installation?

For many years on my config that no device is connected to the IDE. The controller is also disabled in bios and no problems.

In your case, must be tested, sometimes you're forced to format and sometimes not, in any case, you should uninstall your old drivers to install those in your new motherboard.

It is possible that when the CPU is restarted with a new motherboard, the system is not recognized. We see quite often the case, sometimes it works, sometimes not. It is a bit hap hazard chance. Often, for a better functioning, the best is to completely reinstall Windows.

Re: Can not connect any IDE

If you change the disk without changing the motherboard you should recover with a tool like Acronis True Image. For information on where I write, I have migrated Vista before yesterday, which was installed on a SCSI disk to the first partition on a SATA disk, just restoring an image. After that, Microsoft Activation required. The drive no problem. For "nothing on IDE" no problem either, my motherboard did more than any IDE port.

If you change the motherboard you prepare a few unpleasant side of the Windows license, it was delivered with the PC installed. You should read the topics that talk about it and then decide what to do (in the genre talking on the phone with Microsoft explaining that your card is broken down). But if you reinstall Windows, do not think you will be able to use the number on the label is stuck on your PC, it more than likely not, and there not even bother to call Microsoft. Not very engaging all here, but it is better to know.

If you do not reinstall, and if your two motherboards have Intel chipset generations different you should be able to install the file. Chipset driver is the latest, before changing at Intel is frequently the same file that is updated to handle both old and new chipsets. Eventually you will look at Intel this file to the name of the chipset and you will see a list of what he
    can manage.

If I understood I format, I install all my stuff on the new motherboard and I reinstalled Vista from it?

For I am not against finding "IDE standard double canal PCI" in the device manager even though I did all tree the only thing that resembles application controller is IDE/ATA/ATAPI
