    Reboot crossfire 4870 on P5E

I wonder if people have had problems with a reboot activation of crossfire 4870 512mb.

Yesterday I received my second 4870 (sapphire) coupled with my PowerColor I have already.

Frequencies gpu and ram are the same, the crossfire is enabled, I made 19,600 pts in 3d mark 06, only sometimes the pc reboot when I play crysis, and crysis only. The sapphire made a monstrous noise during the games, perhaps it too hot, but it seems to me that the gpu does not exceed the 80 degree. I have not had time to try to play with the fan 100%.

The sapphire is connected with two molex taken (and PCI-Express adapter of course). The PowerColor is connected with two pci-express post live from the power supply.

    Here is my config:

    HIPER HPU-4S730 (730W)
    E8400 @ 4GHz
    P5E
    2 x Raptor 74GB raid 0 + Western digital 500GB + Samsung 1TB
    4x1GB Crucial Ballistix pc8500
    6 fans
    Sound blaster xfi Fatal1ty
    Watercooling pump (mcp650)

I have some small doubts about the power supply, but it still amazes me as 730W should be enough, especially that it is certified quad-GPU (for nvidia).

Another question, do you know a software capable of displaying the temperature of both gpu?

Already trying to balance the loads, connect a PCI-Express connector on each card and the same for the molex. You can have a power supply less stable than another, although I do not particularly know your power supply.

Otherwise you tried with other Catalyst drivers? The last if not days or older...

Everest do show GPU temperatures 1 and 2 GPU?

Yes good idea I had not thought of Everest.

Ok try to balance the burdens and give news. Regarding the drivers, the latest date it seems to me (the 9.2)

What you like for power supply? The two 4870 are of same brand? For me no, but I do not think the problem comes from there.

I have a Cooler Master Real Power 850W and my 4870 are both sapphire.

I do not think that the problem comes from there, they are mostly identical except for the cooling system and the bundle

I noticed something interesting: When I was playing crysis warhead with catalyst AI enabled, reboot after a few seconds a few minutes to see if the cards have already worked well. When I play crysis warhead in disabling the catalyst AI, no reboot.

For the catalyst against AI gives me a huge perf gain: 50Fps instead of 33fps when it is disabled.

But when I play crysis 1, no reboot even activated catalyst.

I'll try to test connect only the bare minimum on power supply, but in any case this is very strange history of "AI".

Before using AI, trying to stabilize the temperature of your cards. And then I think AI will even seek your CPU and therefore your Northbridge which must be hot already. At worst you do not invest in that 2 GPU waterblock

Problem solved: It was good the power supply was concerned.

I used a 250W power supply to power a single graphics card, the other remaining powered by the main supply, and no reboot. I even gained a little performance. It's good for me to buy a power supply that!
