New Hard Disk Drive not Accepted

I am in a big trouble. I was running my pata hdd of 80 gb na dwas completely runnig out of space and thus turned to be extremely slow. So i bought a new HDD of seagate which is of 500 gb and it has reduced many of space problem. I made the new hdd connect to different port and then made a copy hdd function. The copy of one hdd to another hdd was been a successful procedure. But as i ejected my pata hdd and inserted sata hdd, itis not recognising the new hdd and thus dispalys a message "bootmgr missing, press ctrl alt del to reboot". And it is a repeated process.

Please provide some suggestion regarding this.

    Your suggestion will be appreciated

IF you have a genuine windows XP disk, you can boot from that - make sure your bios is set to search for a CD to boot from.

BE careful not to end up setting windows up over the top.

If he needs something from the hard drive, the safest thing to do is put a different hard drive in to boot from, and rig up the one you desperately need as a slave drive.

You will be able to browse it when windows is started.

Well, when you installed the operating system on the OLD hard drive, it installed a boot manager on the hard drive to boot to and decide where to look for where the system is installed and then open it. When you took out the hard drive out, you took along with it the boot loader. I dont understand though, why would you try to be booting off of a blank hard drive.

If you replaced it with a hard drive from another computer, your hardware wont match with the hardware the OS is meant to run on. If you want the new hard drive to boot up, you could make a boot manager or reinstall windows. I would just plug in the old hard drive and the new one, boot off the old one and do whatever you want to the new one through the operating system.

What process did you use to format the second drive? Hook up only the new drive and try the repair option of Windows XP. You do this by booting from the CD. Wait till you get the welcome screen and then press R. Then type in CHKDSK /P and then CHKDSK /F. Then, after this is done, type in FIXBOOT and after that is complete, type in EXIT.
