    Follow the below steps mention.

    1. Begin by first clicking on the Start Button.
    2. Then click on the Run Icon, which will open up the Run Menu for you.
    3. Type the word Regedit into the white area and then click on the OK button.
    4. Click on the plus sign [+] next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to expand that section.
    5. Then click on the plus sign [+] next to Software to expand that section.

    7. Then click on the plus sign [+] next to Windows NT to expand that section.
    8. Then click on the yellow folder entitled Current Version. Do not click on its plus sign [+].
    9. Now move over to the right side of the screen and scroll down until you see Registered Owner.
    10. Double click directly onto the words Registered Owner until it opens up for you.
    11. There will be a white entry area entitled Value data: awaiting your input.
    12. Simply type your first and last name into the white area and click on the OK button.
    13. If you also want to add or change the Company information, then please continue onward.
    14. Double click directly onto the words Registered Organization until it opens up for you.

Go to Start/Run and type in "regedit" without the quotes (Win 2000 type "regedt32")

With Windows XP (and probably Win 2000) navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion

Click the "CurrentVersion" folder and look for the "RegisteredOwner" key. Double click and change the value to your name. You can also change the "RegisteredOrganization" if you want to.

Re: How do i change the system name

Changing this in XP was extremely simple, but in Vista it's buried behind a few more menus. Here are three routes you can take to open up System Properties:

    • Type sysdm.cpl into the start menu search box (quickest)
    • Right-click on the Computer option on the start menu.
    • Open Control Panel, and go to System and Maintenance, and then System.

If you chose one of the last two options, then you'll need to click on Advanced System Settings on the left menu:

    1) Now you'll finally be on the right screen, which should say System Properties.

    2) Click on the "Change" button to rename the computer, which will pop up this dialog:

    • Now you can finally change the name of the computer. You could also change the name of the workgroup to something more descriptive as well. You'll have to reboot after you make this change.

Re: How do i change the system name

To change the computer name or to add a computer description for a Windows XP-based computer, use the Computer Name tab in the System Properties dialog box. To locate this tab, use one of the following methods:

    • Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    • Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
    • Click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
