I have an Asus M2N-VM DVI mainboard which has on-board HD sound (ALC662 High Definition Audio) and on-board video adap.

I recently installed Windows XP SP2 everything worked great.the sound just stopped working (nothing had changed, no new drivers, no new hardware, not even installed any new apps at time of failure).

    Hey Antiqity,
I too faced problem on similar lines, the solution i can provide you is to reinstall the drivers from this link. Check whether you have installed correct drivers if not reinstall them.

    Hey Antiquity,
You can also work around the Registry. Follow the steps below
Goto Start >> Run >> type "regedit"
After this try searching fro ENUM, it should have two occurrences having subfolder each called HDAudio. Delete both of them and then reinstall the driver. For reinstalling you can goto My Computer >> left click its icon >> Manage >> Device Manager >> Scan For New hardware ... after following this procedure i hope you get it right

    Thanks buddy

    Take care

Re: Problem in detecting Sound card

    Hi Friends,
Thanks for your answers. But the poroblem still persists I re-installed the soundcard but it still shows error code 10.
For an idea wat i did was I put a brand new hard disk drive in my PC and installed Win XP SP2, and it works fine. I updated Win XP to SP3 and updated everything (from windows update site) except the sound drivers and it is all still working.
But I dont want to use this idea because it requires me to reinstall all my apps again ..... .....

So can anyone provide me with some other answers please.

    Thanks for your time ...
