How to resolve the error "Disk boot failure"

How to resolve the error "Disk boot failure"

The message "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press ENTER" appears at the start of booting steps, more rarely, when the operating system is fully launched. The source of the problem is usually corrupted boot file and usually occurs when:

    • Allocation Table may be damaged or is not accessible

    • The MBR (Master Boot Record) may be damaged or is not accessible

    • The boot file (boot.ini) is damaged or non-compliant,

    • Successful boot failed

    • A bad connection between the motherboard and hard drive system,

    • Configuration HDD "Master / Slave" incorrect,

    • A defective hard disk,

    • A hard drive not detected by the BIOS,

    • A hard disk without operating system

    • The presence of a non-system disk,

    • The presence of a USB key non-system,

    • A failure of management IDE ports on the motherboard,

    Setting the boot system.

The boot system (boot), provides start-up timing devices in the system (PC). Bios settings allow you to set prefence in startup Boot sequence.

    • At the start of the system (PC), press "DEL", "DELETE", "F1" or other specific key to enter the BIOS.

    • Select the line generally called "Advanced BIOS Features".(otherwise the documentation for the motherboard)

    • Select the line generally called "Boot Sequence." (otherwise the documentation for the motherboard)

    • Choose the boot order following:

    1. First Boot Device: Floppy (floppy drive).

    2. Second Boot Device: CD-ROM (CD-ROM).

    3. Third Boot Device: HDD-0 (or IDE0) (primary hard disk containing the system).

    Detect Hard Drive system.

Detecting HDD is a BIOS setting.

    • Search function generally called "IDE AUTO DETECTION" or "Auto detect hard drives"

    • Check the list in the hard drive system is well recognized.

Check the configuration of the system hard disk.

Hard disk system should be configured as "Master".

    • Check that the jump placed on the side of the HDD system is well positioned as "Master".

    Check connections HDD system.

The connection between the motherboard and hard drive system may be failing:

    • Check the water IDE ports on the motherboard. To take the test, switch to the slicks need IDE1 and IDE2.

    • Check that the IDE cable is inserted later and later Motherboard Hard Drive.

    • Check that the power cable HDD is plugged.

Testing the integrity of the system hard disk.

Many utilities provided by Windows to test the integrity of a hard disk.

    • The utility system FIXMBR. The file system or MBR (Master Boot Record) can be damaged or no longer available:
This command should be run in recovery mode console.

    Run the command fixmbr

    • The utility system "chkdsk". It solves some problems disk:
This command should be run in recovery mode console.

    Run the command chkdsk / p / r

    • The utility system "fixboot". The file system or MBR (Master Boot Record) can be damaged or no longer available:
This command should be run in recovery mode console.

    Run the command fixboot

    • The utility system bootcfg. It solves some problems in handling hard disk file "Boot.ini".
This command should be run in recovery mode console.

    Run the command Bootcfg

How to resolve the error "Disk boot failure?

How to resolve the error "Disk boot failure"

The message "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press ENTER" appears on startup of the station or sometimes, more rarely, when the operating system is fully launched. The source of the problem is generally hard and generally occurs when:

    • the allocation table may be damaged or is not accessible
    • the MBR (Master Boot Record) may be damaged or is not accessible
    • Boot file (boot.ini) is damaged or non-compliant,
    • a sequence of startup failed
    • a bad connection between the motherboard and hard drive system,
    • configuration HDD "Master / Slave" incorrect
    • A hard disk failure,
    • Hard disk not detected by the BIOS,
    • A hard disk without operating system
    • the presence of a non-system disk,
    • the presence of a non-USB system
    • failure management IDE ports on the motherboard,

    Setting the boot system.
The system boot sequence (boot), is the timing of starting the station devices. An intervention in the BIOS allows to emphasize the order of boot drives succeptibles to have a boot sequence.

    • At startup of the station, press "DEL", "DELETE", "F1" or a specific key to enter the BIOS.
    • Select the line usually called "Advanced BIOS Features". (or consult the documentation for the motherboard)
    • Select the line generally called "Boot Sequence". (or consult the documentation for the motherboard)
    • Select the following boot order:

    1. First Boot Device: Floppy (floppy drive).
    2. Second Boot Device: CDROM (CD-ROM).
    3. Third Boot Device: HDD-0 (or IDE0) (primary hard disk containing the system.)

    Detect the HDD system.
Detecting Hard Drive is via a BIOS setting.

    • Check the jump on the side of the HDD system is well positioned as "Master".

    Check connections HDD system.
The connection between the motherboard and hard drive system may be failing:
    • Check the ground on the IDE ports on the motherboard. To test, switch to ground need IDE1 and IDE2.
    • Check that the IDE cable is fully seated side Motherboard and HDD later.
    • Check that the power cable from the HDD is plugged.

Test the integrity of the system hard disk.
Many utilities provided by Windows to test the integrity of a hard disk.

    Code:
    fixboot
    • The utility system Bootcfg. It solves some problems with your hard disk by manipulating the file "Boot.ini".
    • Such restitution should be done in recovery console mode. (See the Microsoft article for the various parameters associated with this utility)

    Run command
    Code:
    Bootcfg
