Cannot adjust screen resolution on VPCF13c5e

    Hi all,

I have just purchased the Sony Vaio laptop. It’s a good laptop and I like all the features of it but the only problem that I am having with that is, I am not able to adjust the screen resolution of the screen. The resolution for it is set to 1920x1080 and the font for the text is very small that I feel problem to read that. I tried to adjust that to 1680x1050 and tried to apply that then it shows me black screen. I rebooted the system and after that it again comes back to 1920X1080. Please tell me that what can be the problem with this and how can I solve it. I will be thankful for all the replies.

I think that the best way to get the solution for this is to contact Sony. Ask them for the problem and I am sure that you will get the correct answer for this. They are the people who know that what are the possible problems that it can show and what is the exact solution for this. So before trying anything else from your side you should call them and ask them directly for the issue.

If you have installed the proper driver for your video card then you may get the problems like this. You should make sure that the drivers that are installed in your laptop. You can go to the Device Manager and check the brand of the driver. Go to the official website of the Sony and search for the latest driver. If you found the one then download and install in your laptop. I have seen many cases like this where uninstalling and installing the correct video card properly will solve the problem for you.

If you are not able to adjust the screen resolution from the system then you can use the buttons on the screen. You can also adjust the resolution with those buttons. You will be able to adjust height width of the screen and also you can move the screen. If there is an auto adjust button on the display then press it and it will adjust the screen automatically. After that, try to change the resolution of the screen. This time, it will be able to adjust the screen resolution. I hope this will help you.

It can be the problem because of the virus attack on your laptop. Have you installed any antivirus on your system? If not then installed any good antivirus on your system and scan the entire system with that. Before installing that, you should make sure that the antivirus that you are using is updated otherwise it will not detect all the threads. Delete the entire files that are detected as infected file. Make sure that they are not system file. Reboot the system and try to adjust the resolution.

Is this happens suddenly? If that is the case then you can use the restore utility. Go to system tools and select system restore. After opening that you have to select the date when it was working properly. And click on restore button. It will restore all your settings to that point. This will definitely solve the issue if it was working fine on that day. But before doing that, you should confirm that you have tried all the possible solution for this and make this as the last option. Good Luck!!
