To get back the Undock PC icon you need to do some work in registry. Before doing that i recommend you to take backup of your system as any mistake can make a permanent damage to your system. Now here are the steps you need to follow:-
- Go to Start Menu of your Vista and type regedit in the search box and press Enter.
- Now locate the following :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer- Now on the right side create a new Dword value by right clicking and name it as NoStartMenuEjectPC
- Right click the new value and choose Modify.
- Give it a value of 0 to show the Undock PC option. Remember, you need to type 1 to hide the undock button.
- Now close the registry and Reboot the system. Thats it !!
I think, removing the Undock PC icon from the Start menu is good. because if accidentally you click the Undoc icon your machine undocks and you have to wait to redirect your LCDs, mouse, and keyboard.
I always recommend every one to remove it by going to the following folder in the registry HKEY_CURRENT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer and Create a NoStaffMenuEjectPc DWORD and give it a value of 1.
Thanks mate. I tried the registry tweak and it was successful. Now i can see the Undock icon back in my Start menu.
I appreciate your valuable help.![]()
