The Windows console (accessible via the menu Run cmd) opens by default in a window that can in theory fill the entire width of the screen. See how to solve this problem.

This trick requires a change to the registry. If you are not sure what you do, do not hesitate to make a backup.

    1. Click Start,

    2. Select Run

    3. type regedit

    4. Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Console. Then edit the DWORD value named FullScreen and set its value to 1.

    5. Done

I'm guessing that what you really want is to have the command prompt literally fill the screen without changing its 80x25 layout. In XP you can toggle this mode by pressing Alt+Enter. Doing that in Vista just gets you a message "This system does not support full-screen mode". And it's true; the Windows Vista Display Driver Model (WDDM) precludes support of the necessary video mode.

Hi there is a Simple fix. Just drag the bottom and sides to the desired size. Next time it will come up like that. Also, you can change the background color and the typeset (Font and size). Right click on the very top (where you usually go to drag a window around), go to Properties and you'll see. I forgot that I previously made a setting in Properties > Layout. None of this will work though if you start the cmd.exe directly. You have to go to accessories or pin it to someplace.
