Remove object from pictures

Hello I am new in these photo editing stuff. Someone may guide how do I edit some objects or simply remove them from the pictures?

The photo-editing programs generally rely on a tool "clone", "stamp tool" or "cloning tool" (the icon is usually a stamp). This is the tool used to "remove" things from the photos.

The procedure is tedious and lengthy but simple: select the clone tool, check the original location and "paint" the new location (which contains the object).

I didn't understand the procedure properly. Can you explain me with an example?

Example: a bird to remove a picture of a blue sky. You should select the clone tool, click the blue sky to mark the origin and "paint" on the bird. The blue sky will be copied on the bird and "erase" the same.
