Yes by selecting Actions in the Automator and clicking on one of the applications listed in the column Library a number of shares pre-established and provided with Automator appear in the column Action. For example, if you select Pictures, you already have a large number of possible actions. The small window at the bottom left allows you to help and offer advice based on what you select in Variables and Actions.

An Action is an component that carry out a single specific task. Each action is corresponding to one step. Actions are combined by adding them one after another in a process. The Variables allow you to create process Automator more powerful and flexible. You have, right here at your disposal many constant values to use in your various processes. You can use the variables in Automator to save the values and future use and to anywhere in the process. There are a number of variables whose values have been created specific to you.

You can add variables to actions by dragging a variable to a pop-compatible or to an editable text field in an Action. You can add an action to a process by dragging it. Action Get the value of the variable is created. Certain actions can help you choose a variable declared from a menu. Other actions include the option to create a new variable from a menu.

Re: How to configure action in MAC automator

Automator comprise or contains a library of actions and variables useful performing many tasks. Some Action does not require attachment or additional information. For example, action Click to play iTunes knows what to do, knows what application contact and requires no adjustments or additional information. Some Actions need additional information. When you add an Action requires additional information to a process, the action shows a simple interface with fields, menus, check boxes or buttons for you can provide all the settings in which action is needed. Setting up an Action is very similar to entering information into a dialog or setting preferences.

Re: How to configure action in MAC automator

To perform a complex task involving several steps, the Actions must often receive information in sequence from a previous action (input) and / or provide information to action next (output). Automator transmits this information sequentially , action to the next in the Process. Some action can change the type of information they receive before the show. This is one of the most useful Automator. For example, action Convert text to audio file received text and generates an audio file of speech.
