Choose Tools -> Options. Select the Maintenance tab and click the "Store Folder" button. You can periodically save a copy of that folder on a CDROM or pendrive transfer that folder in to new machine. Sometime, the email is stored on the server, and thus you don't need to move anything, just "reconnect" with the new machine.

    • In Outlook, make a note of the file location and name.
    • Close Outlook.
    • Move the file.In Control Panel, open Mail.
    • Click Show Profiles, and then select the profile that contains the .pst file.
    • Click Properties, and then click Data Files.
    • Select the data file from the list, and then click Settings.
    • When an error dialog box appears notifying you that the data file could not be found at the old location, click OK.
    • Browse to the new folder location, select the data file, and then click Open.
    • Click OK, and then click Close twice.
    • Click OK.
    • Restart Outlook.

Create a folder called for example backup folder in the root directory (C drive). When using Outlook express your email is kept in one single directory.Open OE and create a folder named Information. Then go to Tools, Options, Maintenance Tab and click on Store Folder and Browse and change the backup folder to point to C:\My Mail.Close OE, copy your dbx files to C:\My Mail. Open OE and your old mail boxes will be accessible.
