It is possible and relatively easy with GParted, a LiveCD, ie a bootable CD, offering an interface equivalent to Partition Magic.
To use:
- Download GParted [Download InfraRecorder, software to burn the ISO image of GParted on a blank CD
- Restart the computer by putting the CD in the drive. (Please ensure that your BIOS is properly configured to boot from the CD-ROM: change the boot sequence BIOS)
- When prompted, choose to ignore the boot options, unless you want to declare a specific device:
- Then choose the language:
- Choose the keyboard to use:
- Then choose the color depth:
- Finally, select the resolution to use:
- Gparted is then expected to launch and display a screen showing disks and partitions:
- Click to repartition the disk
- Then click "Resize"
- A window then prompts you to resize the partition:
- When the changes you agree, click "Apply." Attention, at this stage, it will be impossible to reverse. So you must let the transaction be completed until the end if you do not lose data!
EASEUA Partition Manager 1.6.4 is pretty good, Now it can work with Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 64-bit. Besides, I have learned the news that EASEUA Partition Manager 2.0 will be released, which can run on Vista.
