Re: DVD drive not recognizing cd or dvd
Boot into SAFE MODE and real DOS and try to access dvd media.
Re: DVD drive not recognizing cd or dvd
First test to do: get a bootable CD (Knoppix, Bart PE, Windows CD) and try booting your system from that. If that fails, then probably the CD unit has gone bad.
Re: DVD drive not recognizing cd or dvd
I had exactly the same problem last week after 'installing' and external USB DVD writer. It worked first time but after a re-boot, could not see any CD/DVD drives. The only way I could fix it was to do a system restore to a point before I installed the external unit. Sorry its not an answer to the problem, but it got me out of it...
Re: DVD drive not recognizing cd or dvd
I have the solution. This happened to me and i called a dell support guy and he fixed it!!! This is what you do...
Start the Run Command Prompt
- Start the Run Command Prompt
- Type in "regedit" without the parrenthesis then click ok
- Go to
Quote:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
- Then find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- The whole thing looks like this:
Quote:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then delete the upper and lower filters.... Restart tour computer. Hope this helps
