    overheating CPU

my pc is starting to overheat. first of all, i was getting sudden shutdowns when playing call of duty 4 with all the graphical settings turned up to full. now the pc will load windows and then freeze. when i try to turn the pc back on againi get a long beep suggesting the overheating of the cpu.
there is NO dust inside my case, or on the fan itself. the cpu is being cooled via a freezer 7 pro fan & heatsink, but this still does not stop it. i have run the pc in the bios and can see that the cpu core temperature gets up to 50-51 degrees C before freezing.

Same thing happened with my PC also few months ago and the reason was one CPU fan attach stick was broken, so i changed the CPU fan and everything back to the normal. Might be same case with you, check for that.

I thing 45-50 is the average temperature. I have an average reading of 51 degree C. Its not a problem, i guess it might be your graphics card that is getting too much hot. Use GPUz to see if i'm right...

its ok now, ive narrowed the problem down to a faulty memory module.

Hey Its good that you solved the problem on your own. Can you tell us how you came to know that it was the faulty memory module causing the problem?

    Re: overheating CPU

the bios that my mainboard uses is a Phoenix Award bios. the codes i got pointed toward a faulty CPU, or memory. id tested another cpu and still got the same beeps. i have x2 2gb modules, and tested them individually, it turned out that one of the mudules where faulty. my pc now works fine.

Dude there is definately some other prob
Because my Cpu temperature goes to 77 degree in summer than too works effectively and efficiently.
i think there is prob with your graphics.
may be your graphics card getting over heated, as usually they get very much heated.
