| Re: Error 1606: Could not access network location %APPDATA%\
And now a non-technical response from a non-technical guy. I had this problem, and it seemed to originate when I renamed by administrator account (in Windows Vista) and added some additional new (non-admin) accounts. None of the fixes listed on here helped me, and the registry all seemed to be correct, but I still could not install any new software. The fix? ... Creating a new administrator account. Not only could I now install from the new admin account, but it somehow jogged all of the other accounts into working properly again too. |

I was experiencing the same problem as everyone else here, applied the MS hotfix and used the Fix it tool+manual inspection and correction. I finally solved the problem by right clicking computer, properties, advanced settings, environment variables, and adding this entry to both system and user variables, name:APPDATA value:%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming ![]() |

| DethKore, Great! It worked for me, finally! (I tried adding registry etc but it didn't for some reason, it only worked only after adding environment variable) |
