Need High Definition Audio driver

I’m having a Compaq Presario SR2010NX laptop. Recently I formatted it and installed Windows XP Pro. Everything works fine except its Sound. When I try installing driver, it says I must have MS Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver already installed and as I read in this KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111/, they I must contact MS Support spending $35 and then download. Why is that so?

Is there any alternate of getting this driver and start my laptop’s sounds? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

As far as I know UAA driver comes built-in with the OS and if not then you can install it from your Motherboard CD. As this is laptop, you might be having any driver disk which you received with this laptop, right? See if there is the driver available, it should be there. Otherwise, simply open this link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3239113, enter your model number, download the drivers and install it. That’s it.

The UAA drivers are available from HP directly. [ http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=1817059 ] . Hope that helps you out. I am still having problems with mine but I think the drivers work with SP2. I will refromatt and get back with you. Good luck and Have fun.

hi ..i have just brought my first system...c2do 2.66g e700 2mb ram..realtek 5.10 driver installed and using windxp with sp2...dg31pr prcsr
i am having a problemWindows cannot execute DPVSetup.exe, use Add/Remove Programs control panel to install. DirectPlay Voice has encountered an error. The error code is 0x80004005.
i was using livemsn msnger but mic didnt worked i have applied everything but to no avail ......have been to many forums but nobody replied plzzz tell me what to do or refer me to some1 who can help me will be w8ng 4 ur reply

Download this: Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) R2.29 2009/7/23 29823k Driver only (ZIP file) http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false. Unzip the file, look for MSHDQFE folder. There are copies of KB888111 in there, English only.
