Open programs/documents not showing in task bar

Don’t know what went wrong all of a sudden on my Windows XP Pro desktop. I was working with several word files, browsers and folders opened this morning, all files were showing up in the taskbar. Suddenly in a blink everything disappeared from the taskbar. I mean, though there are more than 10 windows opened but none of them are visible on the taskbar. However I’m still able to navigate through these windows using Alt + Tab keys on keyboard.

I restarted my PC several times but no success. Does anyone of you have faced such strange thing on your systems? Please provide some fix.

Are you able to access Start Menu? If yes, simply right click the Start Button and select properties. Now on the Taskbar and Start Menu click on Taskbar tab check mark these options to make them enabled:

• Lock the taskbar
• Keep the taskbar on top of other windows
• Group similar taskbar buttons

Click OK and see if opened documents and browsers are showing up in the taskbar now. If still it wont appear then i guess there would have been some conflict in registry due to which this is the result. Anyways, just download this Taskbar Repair Tool and run.

Until this problem is solved, you can use ALT + TAB to switch between programs.
