MSN Messenger windows update agent 5.8.02469

I am looking to update to the latest version of Windows Liv Messenger. It will always give me that I have installed "windows update agent 5.8.02469" and then it tries to download it again. It will go off in a loop saying my version of IE isnt up to date, even though its the latest, and says I cannot download "windows update agent 5.8.02469". Can anyone tell me how to upgrade Windows Live Messenger? Thanks.

Do yourself a favor, don't fight the work admin's settings. Ask them for legit help. If you hack the Messenger in you are going to hit some of the security settings. Messenger updates can be downloaded for install by your admin.

Even I am getting the same error and I have checked different websites for any solutions. I have the control of the settings but cannot seem to find where to get this update agent 5.8.02469? How can I update windows live messenger?
