    pci.sys error during XP install

I am trying to reinstall Windows XP on a Dell laptop and getting the below error message:

    Technical Information:
    Stop: 0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0xf85480bf, 0xf8994208, 0xf8993f08) pci.sys “Address f85480bf base at f8541000, Datestamp 3b7d855c"

Does anyone know how to solve this error? Thanks

It looks to me that your Dell uses Sata hard drives but for some reasons, XP SP2 doesnt suppoty Sata hard drive. You can try to look for some sata drivers and splistream the drivers into the XP disk that has SP2 and see if that works. For same you can use a program called nLite that will do the slipstream.
