I am trying to upgrade to Windows XP and getting a issue here. I was using Windows 2000 before. It is a pro edition. While upgrading it worked fine for few times on start but then suddenly there is a error when the upgrade was just about to complete. The error is :

There are some apps which are crashing due to which you are getting the error. It is recommended that you simply upgrade it back again. There can be some unstable application installed on your pc which are not compatible with Windows XP and when you run the upgrade it crashes due to that. Try contacting Microsoft for getting more help on the upgrade procedure. I am sure there will be some way of doing the same.

It is always recommended that you install Windows from scratch. Never upgrade. There are chances that some incompatible files in your pc can cause the crash. You can try working on proper installation once again and then check back. Just arrange a windows xp installation cd, format your pc and install back from scratch. Once the installation is over you can use your upgrade key to activate it.
