System Restore Stopped - Cannot Create New Resore Points

I noticed that System Restore is not able to create new restore points and there are no old restore points shown on the calendar? I have checked that there is enough space allocated for the System Restore. I have also turned System Restore for all drives off and back on. I even tried to run System Restore in safe mode. If I check for restore points then I get the message "There are currently no restore points available". In event viewer I am getting the below error:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: sr
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1
    Date: 9/19/2007
    Time: 8:50:59 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: S3000Z
    Description:
The System Restore filter encountered the unexpected error '0xC0000001'
while processing the file '' on the volume 'HarddiskVolume1'. It has stopped
    monitoring the volume.

RE: System Restore Stopped - Cannot Create New Resore Points

Check the article on "Troubleshooting steps for issues when you try to use the System Restore tool in Windows XP" from this link - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302796

You can try to monitor the system that contains Windows XP partition and dont monitor other partitions. Also try to turn off System Restore again and then turn it back on and only let System Restore monitor the drive or partition Windows is installed on.

You can try to do some troubleshooting with Error Checking that drive and then turn System Restore off and on again. After that right click the drive icon in my computer then go to properties > tools tabs > error checking and then restart the pc.
