I am getting a really serious bug on my pc. I am having a Windows XP system which was working fine for few days. But now I am started getting a problem. There are common partitions on my pc. All of them are having common sizes. Now windows just crashed with giving a error on the screen. The error number is Stop 0x000000CA. I am getting this constantly on the screen. I am unable to find any solution for the same. What should I do to fix the problem.

Bluescreen is caused due to various issue. There are number of reason behind it among which the most common is ram issue. A corrupt ram or some problem with the placement. So the first thing you can do is open your cpu case by turning it off completely, remove the ram and wipe the edges. The place it back and turn on your pc. Also did you have installed anything recently in your pc. Like any software or game or something that can be the reason of crash. Just wipe out the same and then check back.

Go in event viewer. You can get a more detail description on the problem you are facing. I do not think just by giving a error code you can get solution. Because that error is associated with many problem. There can hardware as well as software issue. So better just post the error log here and it will be more easier for helping you. It is right that bsod appear mostly due to ram but there can be software level problem also. Like corrupt system files or damage drivers.

The error which you had posted is mostly due to a corrupt drive. Is there any additional hardware connected to your pc. Like a printer or scanner or something that needs appropriate drivers for the setup. It is essential that you must simply go in control panel > uninstall a program and then remove any recently installed application or drivers. Just remove them and then use your pc. I hope it will not crash. Ample of time due to damage drivers this kind of issue appear. So the best thing is to get rid of the same.

Boot in safe mode first. Then use your system for sometime. If the system crash in the system then it simply means your system is having a hardware problem. But it works fine then there are some software level issue. The above person is right about the drivers. You have to remove and re-install the same back again. I hope a number of installation might work well without causing any major problem. Under safe mode only just remove any recently installed application and then check back.

There can be a virus problem also. I want to share my experience that might help you to locate some solution. I had installed a game from torrent. There was a keygen that activates the game. After installation the system just crashed. I was not able to do anything. I formatted my system and install windows back from scratch. It worked. There was no issue at all. It worked fine. It is not working fine. So just scan your system for virus. Some virus might be causing the problem.

If you are once sure that there is no hardware fault then the issue lies with the driver. Some drivers is problematic which is causing the bug. Go in device manager and see what you can find there. I am sure there will be some hardware listed with yellow exclamation mark. Just update the drivers and then test back. I had long ago got the issue due to a 32bit driver on 64bit pc. I was not aware that my system has a 64bit OS and I kept on installing a 32bit driver on the same. My windows just keep on crashing. I found a lots of kernel issue in event viewer and then I checked the OS architecture. After that when I installed 64bit app things worked fine.

Try system restore. One of the simplest way to restore your old settings and get a stable system. Just run the same and then test back. If it is some kind of driver or software bug then by restoring the same the system will work fine. You can then avoid installing any recent application or drivers. A number of time when we connect a usb or printer it automatically installs the drivers can cause bugs.

There is no direct tool available that can help to scan for problem by blue screen. I was thinking whether there must be some tool that can help to scan for bluescreens and find out the issue that has caused the problem. The best way to fix the issue is to run a repair setup of windows. You can simply use windows xp cd to boot and hit and R button to repair. It will run the repair setup and will not touch the data. The system files will be replaced and fixed. So that it must be more helpful.

    Re: Stop 0x000000CA

    Thanks for sharing the issue.

Does anyone konw the final solution for this issue????

We got the similar problem with WindowsXP + SP3: BLue Screen when I have >10 USB are plugged in HOST via a power HUB. The Error code is:
    0x000000CA (0x00000001, 0x89AAC938, 0x8AB44578, 0x00000000)

The windows blue screen shows " .... Plug and Play detected an error most likely caused by a faulty driver...".

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

You just need to open your BIOS setup program to select the "non-Plug and Play operating system" option. This advice may seem counterintuitive-after all, Windows XP is indeed a Plug and Play operating system. However, this setting was intended for use with earlier Windows versions, and if it's set incorrectly it can prevent the Windows XP boot loader from accessing devices at startup.

Thank you so much for the advise.
Actually, I did disable "AutoPlay.." feature by changing WindowsXP Group Policy settings (Gpedit.msc). But the error still appears.
Comparing with the group policy setting, what is the difference by changing BIOS setup program to "non-Plug and Play operating system" option?
I will try again by setting BIOS setup program to select the "non-Plug and Play operating system.".

Thank you again for your help!

It might be good to try a windows repair, by using the windows xp cd. When the comp boots hit the enter key to boot from cd, follow normal install procedure as you would when doing a clean install. When you are asked to hit pf8 do so, you will be asked to enter your key code, do so. Once that is done than select the REPAIR option.
