    0x80090019 error at login screen

This Windows Product Activation error pops up when I try to log into my computer, it states
"A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for thsi computer. Error Code: 0x80090019."

I've had this computer for more than a year and it worked fine until a few days ago.

I can get in through safe mode but not safe mode with networking.

    Any ideas?

Can you go to Start and then Run and then type - regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll and press enter, after that again type regsvr32.exe licdll.dll and press enter. if that doesnt work then try to repair all system files, just go to Start and then Run and then type - SFC /SCANNOW. Check below for more information:

    Thanks for replying,
    The first thing didn't work.
And when I try to do the /sfc scannow thing
It asks for the windows xp service pack 2 cd

I don't know if I have the cd
I'll try looking but is this normal?
I thought the scan could run by itself, w/o needing any extra cds, files, etc.

Actually, the SFC refreshes from the location of install media. So, that might have been the hard drive, if you had copied the setup files to the drive before the setup.

You can also try to manually edit the registry incase you want to do that. But only do this if you know what you are doing as it can render your computer unbootable:

You can also download and install the WGA Diagnostic Tool:

I'll look into the thing about the SFC but until I can find the service pack 2 source..I'll be looking at other options.

Since I don't want to further mess up my computer, I guess I won't be editing the registry.
I've downloaded the WGA Diagnostic Tool using my other computer, the one I'm on right now, and I've transfered the MGADiag.exe onto a usb and onto the screwed up computer.

The problem is that it won't install.
When I double click on the file, the black box thing..cmd box pops up and then disappears.

Can you try to go to Start and then run and then type regsvr32 regwizc.dll. After that go to start and then run regsvr32 licdll.dll. If that doesnt work, then try the below things:

First of all start the computer in Safe mode by hitting F8 at bootup. Start/run regedit. Delete the following keys:

    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers
    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers

Exit the registry editor, restart normally.

You can try to boot into Safe Mode and then click on Start and then run and then type regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll. After that click ok and wait for the message that the registration is completed. Now try to go to Start and then Run and then type regsvr32.exe licdll.dll and click ok and wait for the confimation message. Restart the computer and check if that works.

For some reason, the WGA Diagnostic Tool just messed up the computer even more. It didn't even install since the cmd box just appears and then disappears. Now I can't even delete the install file, it says:

"Cannot delete MGADiag: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again"

But I've checked, no programs are running and nothing in the memory is using the MGADiag thing. Also, this is after I've rebooted my computer many times.

Also, I can't even run the SFC/ Scannow thing now. I think its because of hte MGADiag thing. The SFC/ Scannow now box now pops up and disappears, just like the mgadiag.exe.

    Help please.
