Unable to delete email in inbox

I am having some problem with my emails, they are not allowing me to delete them. It is Windows XP desktop, when I highlight all unwanted emails and click to delete them, nothing happens. When I refresh the page I can see the emails still remain there, also I am not getting any error if they are not ready to get deleted. I tried the process many times, re-started the system various times but still the same problem. Please suggest me some way to delete the mails also what could be the reason for this weird problem?

I could have helped but you didnt mentioned which email client you are talking about ? Is it any web based mail client or Outlook ? Anyway, if I consider it outlook, you should go to the Tools, click Options and select Maintenance tab. Here you can check the box to empty the contents of deleted items folder on program close. You can also click on CleanUp button to delete all downloaded mails.

The best is the one I mentioned above, Check mark the box under maintenance tab, select the unwanted messages you want to delete in inbox and click on delete. It should get deleted now.
