update on warcraft 2

Computer administrator is what i have.....with my name on it this is from
the last post i wrote so if u would look and see what blizzard said then see
if u can help me....this is what i wrote earlier................nonething i
have done helps...i get it downloaded but then it won't
play...now i think its downloaded because it is saved on my computer.....but
i went to blizzard web site and it said computers with windows xp have to
play and download it under administrator account...........now what the heck
is that.......ok here is what it said.....
If you are using Windows XP/2000 or Mac OSX please be sure you are logged on
as an administrator administrator when installing the game. If the game is
not
installed on an administrator account, computer permissions can prevent the
installation from completing. We cannot support the game on a
non-administrator account. can some please tell me what this means
please....i am about to trash them all i can't play the expansion set with
out getting tides of darkness downloaded.....thanks Patsy

so am i on Computer administrator or do i have to change it i don't know

Hi Memaw,

When you say "i get it downloaded" I'm going to assume that you mean that
you are able to install the game from the original installation CD, correct?

If so, are there any error messages during the installation?
Are you able to install other CD games or software successfully?

no jimmy i don't think i get it downloaded...it does go to my start menu and
also is in folder that says war2 but if i click on any of it nonething comes
up so i just delete it and start over....i can't play it at all with my
cd....it just brings up a black screen then looks like it goes down to my
task bar but nonething happens.....no errows come up just the little black
screen which goes right away then the big black screen that says dos etc.
then that goes away and my desk top comes back up to normal....when the
screen of warcraft comes up it has play war craft on it then when i click on
that it does what i just said....right now i have it all back off and it has
never goen to my add and remove screen.....thanks Patsy

i am scared of dosbox because i don't know anything about it or how to use
it i just wish i could use my computer and be done with it...Patsy

Hi Memaw,

Hopefully by "delete it" you mean that you uninstall it using the game
uninstaller or Add-Remove programs? If so, let's try the latest patch:

Hi Memaw,

Another alternatice to DOSBOX would be Compatibility Mode..

To run an installed program using Windows XP's Compatibility Mode,
first right click the program and "Send To..." / Desktop (create shortcut).

1.. Right click on the shortcut to the program.
2.. Click on Properties.
3.. Click on the Compatibility tab.
4.. Click on Run this program in compatibility mode and select one of these:
a.. Windows 95
b.. Windows 98
c.. Windows NT 4
d.. Windows 2000
5.. Under Display settings, check mark the mode that you think that is best:
a.. Run in 256 colors.
b.. Run in 640 X 480 screen resolution.
c.. Disable visual themes.

Click on Apply.Click on Ok.Double click on the program.

Of course, let's not forget to check for any patches or updates for that game.
