Error Code 0X800700C1

I am having a Dell pc at my home that came with Windows XP home edition. It came pre-installed on my system. Now I found suddenly after windows update it is asking me to activate windows. I thought this is a valid edition which does not require activation. The error that I am getting is 0X800700C1. The error description is A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. What should I do know.

Here is a very tiny fix for your problem and I hope that it works. You can to run cmd for that. Run cmd and in that simply type the following two commands. The first one is regsvr32 regwizc.dll and the second is Regsvr32 licdll.dll. Reboot your pc and then check back. I am sure you will be able to use the same. There will be no issue at all.

That weird. Just check your bills or model details on web and see what you get. I think you got a trail edition of Windows with that. If not then contact dell for activation issue. They will help you fixing the problem you are facing. Did you received cd set with it. If yes then you can find the serial on that also. A number of time manufacturer offers original windows installation cd with serial key printed on the cover.
