win16 subsystem has insufficient resources

When the computer is turned on for sometime, then the this error message comes up "The win 16 subsysten has insufficient resources to continue running. Click OK, close application and restart". After that one of the programs either works or prints artist just closes and I have to stop everything and restart the computer to get it back on. All other programs are still running and I can keep working for days without these programs, but when I want to use them I have to restart the computer all over again. Any ideas?

You have already answered your own question. You just need to do a restart and whatever 16bit application that you have running needs for your machine to restart.

It is actually a program that is causing this issue but I have 2 pcs running Windows XP and one of them has done this ever since I loaded them all up togethr with the same stuff when I purchased them and the other doesnt. I think that the old office suite in my pc is the cause of the problem in this one computer.
