How do I install DirectX 9.0c over DirectX 9.0b (my current versio

I have a Windows XP with DirectX version 9.0b installed. Due to some gaming reasons I need to install DirectX 9.0c but when I try doing the same, XP gives me an error message saying :

“The components have been installed and are ready for use, but no change at all has been made to DirectX.”

And due to this it is not allowing me to install DirectX v9.0c. Can anyone please tell me if there is any other way to get it done? Thanks.

How did you came to know that you have got 9.0b on your current system? Is that the output from running dxdiag? Have you restarted since trying to install 9.0c?

If I’m not wrong you are trying to update it automatically right? Simply try out installing it manually. Go to this link http://www.microsoft.com/directx, download DXWebSetup.EXE. Double click to run the same and it will update the DirectX to Whatever the latest version is.
