creating shortcut keys for a desktop shortcut

It is Windows XP laptop and am trying to create a shortcut file but facing some problem with the same. Couple of days ago I had created a Shutdown.bat file due to some reason and am trying to create a shortcut for the same on desktop. But whenever am trying to the same, it wont allow me to type a word ‘none’ in the shortcut key box. Hope you guys have understood what I meant to say. Can any of you help me out here ?

I don’t know why it is not allowing to type ‘none’ in the box but I think you should try creating a new shortcut. If you are doing the same, type the following in the location field:

    Code:
    %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s -t 00
Now you can assign a shortcut key by going to properties.

Thanks for your suggestion shivinder, but my problem is why I am not able to type ‘none’ in the shortcut field? I tried with your way as well by typing %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s -t 00 in the location but that too wont allow me to type ‘none’.

I don’t understand why is it so necessary for you type ‘none’, What shortcut key you really thinking to assign to this shortcut ?

Whatever it is, windows will not allow you to assign if you want to do anything.

I guess you might be making some mistake while doing the same. You need to right click where it says none and click the box saying “Whats this”. This will bring up help window with instructions. I think you just need to click the field where you want to write none and hit the keyboard key that you want for your shortcut.
