Can't open printer and fax folder in control panel

    Hi,
I am running Windows XP with plenty of ram. Everything is working fine except if I go to Control Panel > printers and fax and then I click on the folder icon, it will not open and it freezes the control panel and I have to use task manager to shut the control panel down. All the other folders in the control panel open fine. Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue? Thanks

You can try to use System Restore to go back to a time when it did open, once you can get into that, uninstall and reinstall the printer from your computer.

Alright, so I followed it and it seems to work for a while and then I was getting a spooler error and lost everything again. It is going to be quicker and less stressful to format the computer. Thanks

The spoolers are almost caused by the corrupted printer drivers. You can try to uninstall and reinstall the printer correctly.

    What happened:
Spooler service is down for some reason, it happens sometime on my HP laptop when breaks out of docking station...
    What to do:
Mate, You need to fire up services
    Either run C:\WINDOWS\system32\mmc.exe + Open file services.msc
    or directly run C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.msc
now please find (typing p will do the trick) Print Spooler service and restart it
NOTE - Application (office, etc.) in need of printing needs also to be reopen as it did not detect spooler when fired up, and cannot yet print.

    You are back in business.
