Have you tried to recover your computer from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting. There is an article that describes how to recover a Windows XP system that does not start because of corruption in the registry, check it over here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

You will need to press some keys when booting and it will take you to Dell Recovery Tools. You can go to Dell website for getting information your specific model to get the key sequence for the same.

IVE HAD NO JOY IN GETTING LAP TOP TO BOOT UP, BUT FOUND ON THE SET UP
THE SERVICE TAG NO.. MF1IP. . WHICH THE DELL SUPPORT PAGE SAYS
There was a problem with your submission:
Your service tag was not recognized. Please check your service tag and try again.

WHEN I TRY TO GO TO THE DRIVERS AND DOWNLOADS PAGE IT ASKS WHAT OPERATING SYSTEM? AND DOES NOT GIVE ME THE OPTION OF WINDOWS XP..
    SO IM STUCK...
ANY ONE KNOW WHAT I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD TO GET LAPTOP UP AND RUNNING AGAIN

    THANKS
